Parramatta has one of the most interesting tree canopies in Greater Sydney, shaped by its history as the oldest inland settlement in the country. The heritage residential areas and the streets immediately surrounding Parramatta Park contain Jacaranda mimosifolia that are among the most established specimens in Western Sydney — some of the street Jacarandas have been growing in their current locations for over sixty years and have developed into genuinely large trees with spreading canopies.
